We had an exciting day on the water with sightings of Humpback Whales, Bigg’s (mammal-eating) Killer Whales, and Pacific Harbour Seals. Not far from home we encountered Cirque the Humpback Whale and another currently unidentified whale, who soon became surface active, breaching out of the water and slapping their pectoral fins on the surface. Later we also had our first sighting of Bigg’s Killer Whales for the month of August, and watched as what appeared to be two juvenile individuals traveled close to the shoreline.
